Amazon is a huge shopping website with an incredible amount of selection. However, this can sometimes be overwhelming for the typical shopper. For instance, if someone was browsing through pots and pans, Amazon might suggest other kitchen tools like potholders, knife sets or even cookbooks. The longer a person shops with Amazon, the better these recommendations will become. Amazon also allows one to customize their recommendations by editing their browsing or purchasing history. For example, if someone was looking for a grilling set to buy for their spouse, but are not interested in grilling, they can mark the browsing or purchases as a gift or note they should not be used for recommendations. This way Amazon will not suggest things like tongs, meat thermometers or grill covers for someone who does not want to grill.
Another way Amazon shares products is through special mini-sites for certain holidays. For instance, around Christmas or Valentine’s Day, Amazon will have a section devoted to different gift ideas. These are organized by age, relationship or gender. The products are usually top sellers that have been hand-picked by Amazon editors and the community. These are nice to help find a present for someone that is difficult to shop for. These gift lists might also inspire someone to treat themselves.
Finally, each day Amazon features some amazing products at extremely deep discounts in the daily deals section. These deals are usually for a limited time and quantity, but will include new or innovative products. Some of the deals offered will be customized for the user based on past purchases.
